Autumn
The theme for October in the Infant room was ‘autumn’. The children went on an autumn hunt around the school looking for signs of autumn. A collection of acorn, horse chestnut, leaves, twigs and berries were collected and sorted into different groups. The children also make leaf rubbings with different leaves.
In Geography we were learning about the various jobs farmers do in autumn, such as harvesting crops and selling fruit and vegetables. We sequenced the story of Farmer Duck in History and in Aistear we acted out the story of The Little Red Hen. In Art the children painted autumn trees and printed the leaves using corks. In Science we created the colour wheel. We mixed the 3 primary colours to create secondary colours. The children loved
experimenting with different colours to create different shades of new colours.
