Procedural Writing
Children in the Infant room have been looking at different examples of procedural texts, such as recipes, instructions for carrying out an activity (brushing our teeth) or how to play a game. Procedural writing provides the reader with instructions or directions for doing something. The children were involved in writing their own instructions for making jam crackers as they carried out the steps. The best part of the activity was getting to eat the jam crackers at the end of their writing! The children were very engaged during this activity and I was very impressed with their use of sequencing words (first, next, then, after that and finally).
