The children in 1st and 2nd Class had a fantastic day at Graune Pet Farm. From exploring the impressive indoor AND outdoor playground to racing around on the go-karts, there was excitement and fun at every turn! They also enjoyed meeting some adorable animals, including cuddling bunnies and kittens, and feeding the hungry goats, pigs, geese, and many more farmyard friends. Some of the children in JI/SI, 1st/2nd & 4th class have completed a 6 week block of the school massage programme with Elaine Gallagher. They have learned lots of massage skills and relaxation techniques that they can now use at home! Thank you Elaine! This was a wonderful experience for the children, they absolutely loved it!

2nd class celebrated their First Holy Communion on Saturday May 9th. They had a well deserved ‘breakfast party’ in school on Monday to celebrate!

The Infants 1st and 2nd had a busy Spring. From pancakes to St Patrick’s, World Book Day to Spring baby animals, it’s been all go! Next stop, Easter!

Pumpkin Patch

It’s been a busy first half performance in the infant room. Lots of friendships and fun was the key performance strategy!

The pupils of 5th and 6th were invited to perform the bells at the Town Hall on Thursday, the 11th of December for Santa’s arrival. They performed festive tunes to a packed theatre. Well done boys and girls-you all did an amazing job!

Since September, our students have been busy learning the wonderful new skill of knitting, thanks to the patience, creativity, and talent of our SNA, Bernie McNally. Under her guidance, the children have created an amazing things - from headbands and purses to teddy bears and beautiful Christmas decorations. Their festive creations now hang proudly on our school Christmas tree! The children absolutely loved working on their projects and have taken great pride in every stitch

Auriel, from The Heritage Council of Ireland kindly ran a workshop with 1st&2nd class on Monday 3rd of November. The programme focused on the theme of ‘Samhain’. The children discussed the heritage sites in their local area of Islandeady, learned about the celts and what they brought to Ireland and to end the day made beautiful arts and crafts from leaves and other natural supplies. Thank you Auriel, the children had a great day!

Junior/Senior infants & 1st/2nd class took a trip over the road to our local pumpkin patch - Raheenbarr Pumpkin Patch! The children had a great day playing lots of games, got their face painted, listened to Halloween stories AND drank some yummy hot chocolate and ate cupcakes! To top it all off, the children picked their own pumpkin to bring home! Thank you to Mick and all the team at Raheenbarr, the children had lots of fun!
